New Schools

The outline planning application includes two options for school provision in order to retain the flexibility to deliver either separate Infant and Junior schools or a single Primary school that will provide the highest standard of education facilities for the young people of North Ascot.

  • They have been designed by architects Stride Treglown, experts in school design, to meet all the current standards of modern education
  • A flexible design produced in collaboration with the teachers and Governors in order to allow for school expansion and to accommodate future requirements
  • Lots of daylight into the classrooms with doors that lead directly to external learning spaces and play areas
  • Internal windows bring natural light into the central corridor allowing passive supervision of pupils
  • A replacement swimming pool for the Junior School and “Eco” building for the infant School
  • Extensive outdoor educational space, activity areas and sports pitches
  • A 50 place pre-school for local children
  • Separate service road to the rear of the schools for delivery / refuse collection

As a contrast to these plans, the existing buildings are estimated by the Local Educational Authority to require approximately £1.8million expenditure over the next five years simply to maintain them. In addition, the existing site cannot provide the external play and sports areas to meet current education standards.

If the amalgamation of the schools is accepted, then there will be further costs involved because of the need to replace the two schools existing systems and the reorganisation of the buildings.
